Everyone has plans … until something—or someone—comes along to change them. At the age of thirty-five, Randall Roderick, Marquess of Reading, decides it's time to trade in his life as the ‘Rake of Reading’ for the life of a married man. Trouble is, his reputation precedes him, and he's not particularly attracted to the milkwater misses who make up the eligible ladies of the ton. His counterpart, Charles Goodwin, Earl of Wakefield, is only twenty-five and enjoys his life as a rake far too much to consider marriage. A visiting prostitute may change his mind on the matter, though, if only because he wants to do the right thing. When the Earl of Norwick's skittish cousin, Constance, meets Randall in the park, she's intrigued by the gentleman she thinks is merely a well-to-do cit with a fascination for horse racing, but she's only in London to find out what's become of her inheritance. She's determined to return to her home and horses in Sussex to live the life of an independent woman. Her counterpart, Eleanor Merriweather, is in London for her come-out with a dream to marry her perfect knight, but having been duped by a brothel's madame upon her arrival, she suddenly finds herself completely and thoroughly ruined. When the lives of these four are suddenly upended by their chance meetings, the events of two nights and two days will prove that it takes a bit of horse sense to get on the right track in The Love of a Rake.

In this revised omnibus edition of Mr. B Speaks! and A Man of Few Words, Katherine Woodbury provides a fresh perspective on two classic works of English literature. Adaptations of Jane Austen's most beloved and well-known work have too often transformed Fitzwilliam Darcy into the stereotypical alpha male of Regency romances. In order to correct this misunderstanding, Darcy has taken the opportunity to provide a more "balanced" view of the relationship between himself and Elizabeth Bennet. Bodily yanked out of Samuel Richardson's Pamela, the novel's hero, Mr. B, must defend himself in court before a panel of skeptical literary scholars and unfriendly critics. The redeemed rake of the first true English romance, Mr. B struggles to justify his provocative behavior. Will love conquer all in the 21st century as it did in the 18th? The result is a delightful dash through the roots of the modern romance novel!

Wireless sensor and body area networks (WSN and WBAN respectively) have been seen as a future way to monitor humans’ psycho-physiological signs remotely. There are a number of standards that could be used for building WBAN sytems. However, wireless UWB networks based on IEEE 802.15.4a offer the advantages of a large frequency range and low power spectral density, making it suitable for both WSNs and WBANs used for medical applications. The technology has matured sufficiently that it can be used to develop products for the marketplace. This book presents how the IEEE802.15.4-2011 (former IEEE802.15.4a) can be used in wireless body area networks (WBAN) for healthcare and welfare related applications. It gives a short overview on the IEEE802.15.4 family and then gives details of IEEE802.15.4-2011 based solutions. The Reform'd Coquette (1724) tells the story of Amoranda, a good but flighty young woman whose tendency toward careless behavior is finally tamed. Familiar Letters Betwixt a Gentleman and a Lady (1725), a satire of both political debate and women's place in society, portrays a Tory man and a Whig woman who find themselves discussing love, even though they have pledged to remain platonic friends. The Accomplish'd Rake (1727) follows the exploits of Sir John Galliard from youth to manhood, when he is forced to accept responsibility for his actions. Mary Davys (1674?-1732) was one of the earliest female novelists in Britain, and after the death of her husband she supported herself by writing and running a coffeehouse. Her writing sparkles, especially in its witty dialogue. Although these three short epistolary novels are framed in a clear moral universe in which virtue is rewarded and transgressions is punished, her works are not overtly religious and punishment is as likely to come from society as from providence.
