Can you justify your faith? To put it simply, this is a book of questions designed for two purposes. One, to challenge the integrity and convictions of oneâ s religious faith. And two, to give people of faith the opportunity to explain to people without why their beliefs are sane, rational and justifiable. Think of this as the ultimate self-help book for learning to critically think about the reasons why you choose to believe in a God. This book is dedicated to YOU, whoever you may be and regardless of whatever you may or may not believe in. This book is dedicated to all of us as an intellectually maturing society and a globally united species. If dedication to unbiased compassion is honestly our goal and we are indeed here for the happiness, well being and benefit of our fellow man, then I hope this book will be considered an invaluable tool for destroying the barriers that regularly impede our ability and desire to openly communicate and relate to one another. Is Your Faith Up to the Challenge is a mirror for the conscience and the intellect that will unrelentingly force the reader, if they are confident enough to read it, to acknowledge the honest reflection of their true beliefs. Without a doubt this will be an experience that will be difficult for many to accept as it will most assuredly shake the very foundations of the most fundamental ideas about faith and religion that millions of people build their lives on. I would imagine that it would be no understatement to say that your faith is likely to be irrevocably diminished if you have the courage to address these questions honestly and in their entirety, not because of any piece of information contained within these pages, but rather because of the answers I suspect most of us already believe in our hearts to be true. To the best of my knowledge this book, in conjunction with its related web site www.justify-your-faith.com, is a one of a kind effort designed to inspire people of all religious faiths to share the personal reasons for their beliefs and to think with their own natural intelligence and good common senses as well as their heart in order to postulate the most productive, honest and complete views of the world they live in. There is no doubt such a work will generate a fair amount of contention. I only wish that we can find the common decency in ourselves to treat our inevitable disagreements with compassion and maturity.

"Climate change, in which man-made global warming is a major factor, will likely have dramatic and long lasting consequences with profound security implications, making it a challenge the United States must urgently take up. The security implications will be most pronounced in places where the effects of climate change are greatest, particularly affecting weak states already especially vulnerable to environmental destabilization. Two things are vitally important: stemming the tide of climate change and adapting to its far-reaching consequences. This project examines the destabilizing effects of climate change and how the military could be used to mitigate global warming and to assist at-risk peoples and states to adapt to climate change, thereby promoting stability and sustainable security. Recommendations are made on the importance of U.S. leadership on the critical issue of global warming, on defining and dealing with the strategic dimensions of climate change, and, as a case in point, on how Sino-American cooperation in Africa would not only benefit areas where climate change effects are already pronounced, but also strengthen a crucial bilateral relationship."--Abstract.

Have you ever thought, “Wow, I want to be a Christian like that, but I just don’t know how”? Or maybe you’ve wondered how God can love you and forgive all of the mistakes you’ve made. Just remember that no one is perfect, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, NKJV). This book is here to help. Not only do Karen and Matthew share their struggles with faith and purpose, but they show the reader how to change their thinking and how to challenge themselves, one challenge at a time, to become a more authentic Christian, on fire for God. From “The Mirror Challenge” (NOT Karen’s favorite…) to “The Prayer Challenge,” and all of the inspirational stories in-between, you will read about how God can and will change a person’s heart. Discover how He will always be there no matter the situation and how He can surprise His children with goodness in even the smallest of daily situations. All it takes is a desire to let Him into your heart with faith and a willingness to let Him change you from the inside, out. Are you up for the challenge?

Push yourself and your limits with over 60 of the toughest, most brutal physical challenges out there. Picture the scene: you're at the end of an epic race, your chest burns as your lungs fight to suck in enough oxygen to keep you moving. Your thighs ache as lactic acid courses through your muscles and you let out a chilling scream of "Shut up legs" in one final push to get to the finish line. If this sounds like your idea of hell, this ain't the book for you, but if you've experienced similar feelings and subsequent endorphin rush once you cross the line, UP FOR THE CHALLENGE should be right up your street. Sports writer Dominic Bliss has scoured the planet to bring you a selection of some of the most intense, hardcore sporting events around and dares you to have a go yourself. With 60 challenges covering all four corners of the globe and a range of different disciplines, discover events like the North Pole Marathon where competitors run the 26.4 miles in sub-zero conditions or the Atlantic Challenge, a race that sees you and a rowing boat attempt to cross the world's second largest ocean. Then there's the Simpson Desert Challenge, a five-day bike race across the Australian Outback, or the Tevis Cup, a 100-mile, 24-hour horse ride across California's Sierra Nevada mountains--an event where on average only around half the competitors make it to the finish line. Alongside the event profiles, which are illustrated with spectacular photography are interviews with some of the competitors and organisers, explaining what it's actually like putting yourself through some of the most extreme physical test known to man.

"When the Dempsey patriarch suffers a heart attack, Lucas Dempsey steps up to keep the doors of the family restaurant open. The proverbial prodigal son returns home to Anchor Island?putting family first and his quest to make partner at his high-powered law firm on hold. Sporting a bruised ego after losing his fianc?e to his older brother, Lucas would rather walk on glass than spend six weeks within spitting distance of the happy couple. But family duty calls. And that duty includes working side-by-side with a tantalizing spitfire intent on driving him mad. Tough-as-nails boat mechanic Sid Navarro is happy to trade her tools for an apron to help the Dempseys in their time of need. That is, until she realizes she?ll be working alongside Lucas, the man she?s loved from afar since she first laid eyes on him in high school. Lucas could charm the paint off a schooner, but Sid knows she doesn?t fit his girl-next-door type. To show her true feelings would mean certain heartbreak, but the temptation of Lucas in her bed might be more than she can resist. After a rocky start punctuated by verbal barbs and exasperating arguments, things heat up between them?big-time?but their steamy affair turns more than casual in a matter of weeks. Sid?s life has become the dream she?s always wanted, and Lucas has fallen hard for the last woman he ever expected to love." -- from publisher's website.

Renewal for Men and Women In Their Thirties, Forties, Fifties and Beyond Are you among the millions of North Americans over age thirty-five burdened down by unfulfilled dreams, diminished expectations, an irrational fear of tomorrow and a stressful, uninspiring daily routine? Is your life at mid-stream far less than you had intended it to be? Our book, A Mid-Life Challenge-Wake Up!, was written to restore joy, reestablish positive expectations and return a spirit of adventure to your life! Almost by accident, the author awakened in the year 2000 to a highly positive realization: persons in their middle years need not abandon dreams of a fulfilling career, mutually beneficial personal relationships and a prosperous lifestyle precisely on their own terms. Indeed for most, middle age is an ideal time to reassess the present, creatively plan for the future and take control over life's direction. Unlike the author, readers need not endure thirty long years of "sleepwalking through life" or rely upon a once-in-a-lifetime chance inspiration. Based upon personal experience and observation of successful renewal "graduates," the author lays out a comprehensive step-by-step blueprint to reinvigorate life at mid-stream. This book will inspire any middle-aged woman or man earnestly committed to restoring positive emotions and reentering life's mainstream beginning this very day. The author Roy Richards is a motivational speaker and consultant and co-founder of the Middle Age Renewal Training Institute (MART.) His stated mission is to revitalize the life experience for dispirited men and women over age thirty-five. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago, the author spent seventeen years climbing the corporate ladder with four major U. S. corporations. For the past fifteen years, he has thrived as a small business owner and entrepreneur. The author and his wife Gloria reside in Clive, Iowa, a suburb of Des Moines and are parents of two grown children, Kristen and Geoffrey. They share their home with an energetic English Springer Spaniel named Chips.
