What lengths would someone go to bury a secret? What lengths would someone go to uncover one? Henry Mathews, a young, ambitious associate at one of the top law firms in Chicago, is a man on the move. As lethal in a courtroom as a shark in an aquarium, he is rising fast. But his hard-driving mentor, the senior partner, is obsessed with a telling inconsistency on Henry's otherwise brilliant résumé: the year after he graduated from college, Henry enrolled at a seminary in Kentucky. Even more perplexing, Henry left suddenly three weeks before the end of the first year, and won't speak of the episode. But Henry's past refuses to go away. Called back to his tiny hometown in Council Grove, Kansas, to execute the will of Tyler Crandall, the town's richest man, Henry gets enmeshed in a web of long-hidden secrets. Tyler has chosen not to leave his wealth to his grasping son, but instead has made a homeless derelict called the Birdman a sudden millionaire and Council Grove's most powerful resident. The Birdman, scripture-spouting and delusional, prophesies a dark vision of retribution and hellfire. But soon it becomes clear that locked behind his madness is the key to the real history of Council Grove. When a grotesque and cruel act convinces Henry that powerful forces will do anything to keep those secrets hidden, he determines to protect the Birdman and uncover the truth. But the cost is high: Henry is in danger of losing both his job in Chicago and his beautiful, ambitious girlfriend. Henry, given the opportunity to use his phenomenal legal skills for good, discovers that right and wrong are more complex than he imagined. Sucked into secrets of money, politics, and a tragic love affair -- secrets with the power to ruin lives -- Henry finds his own sense of morality under assault. As black and white turn to gray, what began as a legal battle becomes a spiritual journey stretching back to Henry's mysterious experience at the seminary. More than just a legal thriller, The Will is an absorbing, deeply satisfying read.

The canon of U.S. nature writing, like the literary canon in general, has long been male-centered. But as this anthology shows, women’s voices have been there since the early Republic. At Home on This Earth features the most readable and accomplished pieces of nature writing by more than 50 U.S. women authors, from the early 19th century to the present. Spanning a range of genres including memoir, story, journal entry, sketch, and essay, it brings together pieces long out of print by such forgotten authors as Elizabeth C. Wright and Edith Thomas with selections by such well-known and acclaimed authors as Rachel Carson and Alice Walker. Moving far beyond the customary association of nature writing with New England and its Yankee progenitors, the book offers work from across the United States by Jewish, Asian, Hispanic, African American, and Native American women. With its rich diversity in voices, attitudes, and styles, this anthology expands the definition of nature writing, recognizes the specific contribution of women to this genre, and shows their unique relation to the natural world. Designed for undergraduate courses as well as for general readers, the book includes a short biography of the author preceding each selection. A bibliography and list of further reading is included, as well as an index of authors and titles. Lorraine Anderson’s introduction traces for the first time a distinct tradition of women’s nature writing in the United States. In the Virgin Mary, God revealed His power in a way we cannot rationalise but in faith believe. God took flesh in the way that spoke of His patience down through the ages and in 'The Immaculate Conception' revealed His choice, reminding us that through her Son we too are called and chosen. God not only presents the holy Virgin as a model of discipleship, but reveals ever more of Himself through her. This book traces some of the steps taken by the Mother of God and how, in a world all busy and rushed, she reminds us that we too are called to listen to God, to consider His ways and take time to receive His grace. Mary had a will as if bended to God, waiting in an attitude of loving obedience; God's will shines forth in her, showing that indeed He is our Father to Whom all things are possible.

This book is intended to take the reader upon one womans adventurous lifetime quest to follow the teachings of the Father which ask us each to "Seek to love God with our whole heart, mind, body and souland our neighbor as ourselves". He has asked us to treat all other sentient beingseven "the least of these" as if we were doing these things for Him. If we seek to know Him, to become His beloved child and to follow Him as our Way, Truth and Light of our lives, He will walk and share with us as our Friend, Teacher, Savior and Beloved. This is the message of the authors first book entitled "Beloved". "Beloved" is a message of each persons ability to share a personal divine love relationship between our Beloved Lord and ourselves. "Beloved Spirit" continues our walk "in the still of the evening" with our Beloved beside us. If we walk with Him, we remain in the Spirit of the Beloved Spirit of the Father all our lives. He will show us many unseen and unknown things of the Earth and the Heavens. We will no longer see Him and His Light as an isolated pathway known only to a few. Our Beloved Fathers Love and Spirit is all-encompassing. He told us He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. He tells us He has sheep of many pastures. We are each a child of the All-Encompassing All That Is, the Manifold God who blessed His creation and His Son. The prophetic pages of this large epistle of His love for humankind as well as warning us of the "Signs of the Times". The Beloved Father is weeping. We will learn why. If we have love one for another, we will be able to complete an ecstatic picture of a new world in which the Spirit dwells within each of our hearts. He said He would never left us alone in dark and troublous times. "He leads and guides us clear through to a better place made with His own hand."

Have you traded in the Christian dream for the American Dream? Does a passion, faith-filled life seem impossible? Are you ready to get real with God and renew your heart in his love? If you, like many believers today, are weary of playing church and long to live a heavenly life, Beloved Believer: Return to the Arms of Jesus will refresh and restore you. Each section is based on scripture and is designed to lift the eye to the Almighty God in Jesus Christ. Not for fluff seekers, this book delves into our humanity and the greatness of God. Debbie Ibanez challenges today's Christian concepts with directness and love. Beloved Believer: Return to the Arms of Jesus is for those who are willing to ask themselves hard questions and who are yearning for lives filled with the joy of Christ. Beloved Believer: Return to the Arms of Jesus taps the brakes and disrupts the humdrum cruise-control Christianity that drives too many of us. Debbie Ibanez does us a good favor by giving this timely exhortation to 'wake up and strengthen that which remains' (Revelation 3:2). --David Sitton, President of To Every Tribe Ministries

An original, comprehensive system of theology especially apropos to the post-Christendom North American context In this scholarly work Paul Hinlicky transcends the impasse between dogmatic and systematic theology by articulating and arguing a single cognitive claim: God is the One who has determined to redeem the creation by the missions of his Son and Spirit. Deploying an unusual Spirit-Son-Father trinitarian scheme, Hinlicky treats the problem of the knowledge of God and the nature of the theological discipline, and he proceeds to carefully develop his system of theology through expansive, wideranging argumentation. Each main part of his work includes discussion of the ecumenical convergences in doctrine gained over the last generation and exploration of interreligious dialogues, especially with Judaism and Islam. Throughout the book, Hinlicky engages with other theologians -- particularly with Robert Jenson s Systematic Theology -- and concludes each major section with a discussion of an alternate perspective on the subject.

The Twin Love series was originally taught at workshops from 2003 to 2009. During those spiritually magical and beautiful workshop spaces, each participant learnt more about the different types of soul level relationship, offering a clearer understanding. Also each person opened their own heart to deeper levels, and thus the attraction of their divine partner began first on the inner planes, and then followed on this realm of life.
