Welcome to the CAMP AGE, when spies liked their wars cold and their women warm, good guys beat bad guys with a pun and a punch, and Batman shook a mean cape. HERO-A-GO-GO celebrates the camp craze of the Swinging Sixties, when just about everyone—the teens of Riverdale, an ant and a squirrel, even the President of the United States—was a super-hero or a secret agent. Back Issue magazine and former DC Comics editor MICHAEL EURY takes you through that coolest cultural phenomenon with this lively collection of nostalgic essays, histories, and theme song lyrics of classic 1960s characters like Captain Action, Herbie the Fat Fury, Captain Nice, Atom Ant, Scooter, ACG’s Nemesis, Dell’s super-Frankenstein and Dracula, the “split!” Captain Marvel, and others! Featuring interviews with Bill Mumy (Lost in Space), Bob Holiday (It’s a Bird … It’s a Plane … It’s Superman), Ralph Bakshi (The Mighty Heroes, Spider-Man), Dean Torrence (Jan and Dean Meet Batman), Ramona Fradon (Metamorpho), Tony Tallarico (The Great Society Comic Book), Vince Gargiulo (Palisades Park historian), Joe Sinnott (The Beatles comic book), Jose Delbo (The Monkees comic book), and many more!

Mortimer Tate was a recently divorced insurance salesman when he holed up in a cave on top of a mountain in Tennessee and rode out the end of the world. Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse begins nine years later, when he emerges into a bizarre landscape filled with hollow reminders of an America that no longer exists. The highways are lined with abandoned automobiles; electricity is generated by indentured servants pedaling stationary bicycles. What little civilization remains revolves around Joey Armageddon's Sassy A-Go-Go strip clubs, where the beer is cold, the lap dancers are hot, and the bouncers are armed with M16s. Accompanied by his cowboy sidekick Buffalo Bill, the gorgeous stripper Sheila, and the mountain man Ted, Mortimer journeys to the lost city of Atlanta -- and a showdown that might determine the fate of humanity.

Authors Lewis J. Poteet and Aaron C. Poteet, father and son, also wrote Hockey talk, a dictionary of Hockey slang. This book was born out of the son’s lifelong fascination with Police, crime and justice and his father’s love of language. Lewis has written or co-authored numerous slang word and phrase books including Plane Talk, Car Talk and The South Shore Phrase Book. Lewis taught English for 32 years at Concordia University in Montreal and in winter 2000, was adjunct instructor in English at Austin (TX) Community College. Aaron holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northeastern University in Boston. As a sometime wayward youth, he walked the city streets at night as neighborhood patrol, Guardian Angel, even vigilante. His near obsession with the street led to work in the most thankless profession known to man—law enforcement (and he loved almost every minute of it!) working for the better part of a decade as a Special Police Officer in Boston and then briefly with the Austin Police Department. He now works for a large corporation in field collections. Gathered from live conversation and printed sources, this book presents the lively language of car and motorcycle fans, with entries also from car parts men, mechanics, car salesmen and ordinary drivers. Drawn from California, Canada, Texas, Boston, England, Belize, and other places it evokes the terror, the joy, the pride, the troubles that come from these Rube Goldbergish unholy alliances of fire and water, gasoline, steel, and rubber, designed to drag our bodies down the highway at unlawful speeds and get us caught in horrendous traffic jams, or travel freely in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

From the phenomenal best-selling author, Sara Henderson, comes an entertaining book that will delight readers everywhere. Sara Henderson's love of animals was firmly established in her early years and continued throughout her life. In Some of My Friends Have Tails, she shares the tales of her many extraordinary relationships with animals. There is Rosa the goanna who swam in the family pool. Pye-Wacket the cat who grew up believing he was a dog. And Sundowner the poddy calf who loved eating the washing, 35 mm film, and sheet music off the piano. But not all the characters in Sara's life are four-legged. We meet the sixteen-year-old housekeeper who was smuggling drugs, and the Italian gardener who sang opera at dawn. And there are some familiar faces as well: Charlie, Uncle Dick, Max, and Marlee. These stories range from the funny to the heartbreaking, from Sara's earliest memories to the present day, and take place in many countries. Over the years, Sara Henderson touched the hearts of the thousands of Australians who heard her speak, read her books, and loved her stories.
