Cats are Cute

Cats Are Cool--Why I Love Cats I have always been an animal lover since I was a little kid. Unlike humans, animals give you unconditional love. They don't dump you or leave you in the dirt. I love all animals, but I have always had a special love for cats. Cats are awesome; just look at YouTube! Only cats are hilarious enough to be the biggest celebrities on the web. What is it about cats that makes them cool? It's probably that they pretty much take care of themselves! Here are the reasons why cats rule: 1. They Are Independent Cats can be left by themselves for a while. You can take a short vacation and leave them at home. All they need is enough food and water to make it through. They don't get separation anxiety and tear up your entire house like dogs do. 2. They Can Use the Bathroom Yeah, litter boxes can be gross, but they are much easier to deal with than poop scattered all over the house. Cats can even be taught to be potty trained on a real toilet. How cool is that? 3. They Don't Need Exercise Cats don't need to be taken on walks or let outside. All they need is to eat, sleep, and hang out. A lot of people don't have time to be taking their pets on walks every day. 4. They Are Good With Kids The majority of cats are good with kids and let kids carry them around. A few cats don't do well with kids, but you never have to worry about the kids getting injured or killed by a cat as you do with dogs. 5. They Keep Quiet Cats are pretty quiet compared to dogs. Do you ever get annoyed when a dog's barking wakes the whole house? You don't have this problem with cats. Cats that are vocal never meow loud enough to cause a scene, and when you have visitors, they go off and hide rather than jump all over them.

The 100 Cutest Kittens

ABOUT THE BOOK Lions may be king of the jungle, but cats are king of the Internet. One quick google search for cat images produces over 300 million results. And though all those cats are cute as can be, nothing can compare to kittens when it comes to cuteness. After relentless searching, I’ve compiled a collection of the 100 Cutest Kittens in all their glory. This book divides cute kittens into a few categories: Kitten Friends, Kittens in Strange Places, Kittens Outside, Kitten Faces, and Kitten Craziness. Without further adieu, and in no particular order, here are the 100 cutest kittens! MEET THE AUTHOR Kate has over 10 years of experience writing, researching and editing articles, eNewsletters, web content, press releases, and resource books. She's a huge nerd, and is interested in everything from science and the latest technology to crafts, food and celebrity gossip. Because of her eclectic tastes, she has written about topics ranging from childhood brain development to fuel efficiency to micro-breweries. Kate loves writing and researching, it gives her a chance to inform and entertain readers, and also as an opportunity to learn something new. Kate a native Mainer, and when she is not shoveling snow or writing, she's huddled near the fire with her daughter, her husband, and her dogs. EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK One things kittens love to do is hang out with other animals. Usually kittens chill with other cats and kittens, but I found a few adorable feline and canine duos as well. Sense and Goodness Without God

If God does not exist, then what does? Is there good and evil, and should we care? How do we know what’s true anyway? And can we make any sense of this universe, or our own lives? Sense and Goodness answers all these questions in lavish detail, without complex jargon. A complete worldview is presented and defended, covering every subject from knowledge to art, from metaphysics to morality, from theology to politics. Topics include free will, the nature of the universe, the meaning of life, and much more, arguing from scientific evidence that there is only a physical, natural world without gods or spirits, but that we can still live a life of love, meaning, and joy.

Bad Arguments

If we are constructing a syllogism with more than three terms, then we either have multiple syllogisms or no syllogism at all. In this example, there are two syllogisms, each one of which is valid on its own: 1. All cats are cute. 2.

Bad Arguments

A timely and accessible guide to 100 of the most infamous logical fallacies in Western philosophy, helping readers avoid and detect false assumptions and faulty reasoning You’ll love this book or you’ll hate it. So, you’re either with us or against us. And if you’re against us then you hate books. No true intellectual would hate this book. Ever decide to avoid a restaurant because of one bad meal? Choose a product because a celebrity endorsed it? Or ignore what a politician says because she’s not a member of your party? For as long as people have been discussing, conversing, persuading, advocating, proselytizing, pontificating, or otherwise stating their case, their arguments have been vulnerable to false assumptions and faulty reasoning. Drawing upon a long history of logical falsehoods and philosophical flubs, Bad Arguments demonstrates how misguided arguments come to be, and what we can do to detect them in the rhetoric of others and avoid using them ourselves. Fallacies—or conclusions that don’t follow from their premise—are at the root of most bad arguments, but it can be easy to stumble into a fallacy without realizing it. In this clear and concise guide to good arguments gone bad, Robert Arp, Steven Barbone, and Michael Bruce take readers through 100 of the most infamous fallacies in Western philosophy, identifying the most common missteps, pitfalls, and dead-ends of arguments gone awry. Whether an instance of sunk costs, is ought, affirming the consequent, moving the goal post, begging the question, or the ever-popular slippery slope, each fallacy engages with examples drawn from contemporary politics, economics, media, and popular culture. Further diagrams and tables supplement entries and contextualize common errors in logical reasoning. At a time in our world when it is crucial to be able to identify and challenge rhetorical half-truths, this bookhelps readers to better understand flawed argumentation and develop logical literacy. Unrivaled in its breadth of coverage and a worthy companion to its sister volume Just the Arguments (2011), Bad Arguments is an essential tool for undergraduate students and general readers looking to hone their critical thinking and rhetorical skills.

Logic With Added Reasoning

Whether we talk about cats being humans , bachelors being unmarried or every x being y the argument is still valid . ... Take the following example : All dogs are carnivores All cats are cute All dogs are cute The above argument is ...

Logic With Added Reasoning

This concise text treats logic as a tool, “generated so that half the work involved in thinking is done for you by somebody else (the rules and laws of the logic).” Gabbay explains in a clear and careful manner how formal features of, and formal relations between, ordinary declarative sentences are captured by the systems of propositional and predicate logic.

Cantonese Particles and Affixal Quantification

(1) (a) Every cat is cute ⇒ ∀x (cat(x) → cute(x)) “Every individual x is such that if x is a cat then x is cute.” (b) Some cat is cute ⇒∃x (cat(x) & cute(x)) “Some individual x is such that x is a cat and x is cute.

Cantonese Particles and Affixal Quantification

Cantonese, the lingua franca of Hong Kong and its neighboring province, has an unusually rich repertoire of verbal particles. This volume significantly augments the academic literature on their semantics, focusing on three affixal quantifiers, -saai, -hoi and -maai. The author shows how these verbal suffixes display a unique interplay of syntax and semantics: used in a sentence with no focus, they quantify items flexibly, according to an accessibility hierarchy; with focus, focus comes into effect after syntactic selection. This fresh and compelling perspective in the study of particles and quantification is the first in-depth analysis of Cantonese verbal suffixes. It compares the language’s affixal quantification to the alternative determiner and adverbial quantifiers. The book’s syntax-semantics mapping geography deploys both descriptive and theoretical approaches, making it an essential resource for researchers studying the nexus of syntax and semantics, as well as Cantonese itself.

What Science Is and How It Works

How does a scientist go about solving problems? How do scientific discoveries happen? Why are cold fusion and parapsychology different from mainstream science? What is a scientific worldview? In this lively and wide-ranging book, Gregory Derry talks about these and other questions as he introduces the reader to the process of scientific thinking. From the discovery of X rays and semiconductors to the argument for continental drift to the invention of the smallpox vaccine, scientific work has proceeded through honest observation, critical reasoning, and sometimes just plain luck. Derry starts out with historical examples, leading readers through the events, experiments, blind alleys, and thoughts of scientists in the midst of discovery and invention. Readers at all levels will come away with an enriched appreciation of how science operates and how it connects with our daily lives. An especially valuable feature of this book is the actual demonstration of scientific reasoning. Derry shows how scientists use a small number of powerful yet simple methods--symmetry, scaling, linearity, and feedback, for example--to construct realistic models that describe a number of diverse real-life problems, such as drug uptake in the body, the inner workings of atoms, and the laws of heredity. Science involves a particular way of thinking about the world, and Derry shows the reader that a scientific viewpoint can benefit most personal philosophies and fields of study. With an eye to both the power and limits of science, he explores the relationships between science and topics such as religion, ethics, and philosophy. By tackling the subject of science from all angles, including the nuts and bolts of the trade as well as its place in the overall scheme of life, the book provides a perfect place to start thinking like a scientist.
