Delicious Tofu

Delicious Tofu is a well-researched and carefully-crafted cookbook, written by a native tofu chef. Angela Chang was born in China and raised in Taiwan, where tofu is inseparable from the culinary landscape. The following features are what make this book stand out: • It offers an unprecedented mixture of authentic information with engaging stories from Chinese history, legends, and current tofu culture for reading pleasure, as well as helpful culinary background. • It reveals the fact that tofu is for both meat lovers as well as vegetarians. To achieve the best results, the book introduces a wide range of cooking methods plus traditional and creative dishes. Readers will find a rich repertoire of little known techniques, tips, shortcuts, and even global tofu dining guides. • One chapter is devoted to tofu varieties found in the market, a hidden treasure that even some native tofu users have overlooked. These tofu “jewels” come pre-seasoned and ready to serve, deliciously healthy and convenient options that are worthy of exploration. “Angela Chang’s Delicious Tofu is a marvelous resource for anyone who wants to learn about the history and nature of tofu. Too often we think of tofu as nondescript and uninteresting. Quite the contrary, in the hands of a masterful chef like the author, tofu becomes one of the most remarkable ingredients in the repertoire of human foodstuffs. Encyclopedic in scope and engagingly written, Delicious Tofu is sure to delight and edify novices and cognoscenti alike. - Victor H. Mair, Professor of Chinese Language and Literature, University of Pennsylvania “Angela Chang has been proselytizing for tofu for years, determined to break down the barriers that keep so many Westerners from fully appreciating its delicious versatility. Here she makes it accessible to one and all, with irresistible storytelling and enthusiasm that draws you into her world.” - Faith Bahadrurian, Food writer and restaurant critic “Angela Chang’s debut book was the first to enable me to make authentic home-style Chinese food. Here she’s turned her attention to that most versatile and underappreciated protein, tofu. The result is encyclopedic in scope, chock full of engaging history and informative anecdotes, and a treasure trove of inviting recipes. It may be a cliché to say that one recipe is worth the price of the book, but for me Chang’s Pork & Tofu Stew belies that cliché.” - Pat Tanner, Award-winning food writer, restaurant critic, and radio show host

Discover Our Amazing Tofu Cookbook

I don't know how much you know about tofu. Most people try to stay away from this plant based food, because they are intimated by it. That's when we come in. We know it is difficult to get used to a new food item when you really have no idea how to prepare it, cook it and season it. We will make sure it does not happen anymore with tofu. I am certain you have heard or well aware that tofu is a food that is really bland. It has hardly any flavor on its own, so you can't enjoy it plain, like you would with a piece of beef or chicken. The good thing about being a non-flavorful food is that it can be blended incognito to many recipes. It can be added to milkshakes, burgers or meatloaf and it will not alter the taste, only the texture. We will propose you many ways to concoct tofu friendly recipes and you will eventually also create your own. This tofu cookbook will also give you a knowledge base on the health benefits associated with consuming tofu and many other facts about it that you might not already know…

The Syntax and Semantics of Noun Modifiers and the Theory of Universal Grammar

Kim made dinner with tofu. Today, Ann asks Mary how the dish tasted. Mary tells
Ann that the cooking was bad. Mary was surprised at the fact that the dish made
with tofu could be unsavory because she likes tofu and tofu is delicious.

The Syntax and Semantics of Noun Modifiers and the Theory of Universal Grammar

This book takes Korean as a basis to provide a detailed universal Determiner Phrase (DP) structure. Adnominal adjectival expressions are apparently optional noun dependents but their syntax and semantics have been shown to provide an important window on the internal structure of DP. By carefully examining data from Korean, an understudied language, as well as from other unrelated languages, the book provides a broad perspective on the phenomenon of noun modification and its cross-linguistic variations. Furthermore, it offers not only a thorough syntactic analysis but also a formal semantic analysis of noun modifiers that extends beyond a single language. This book will be of great interest to researchers interested in theoretical syntax, its interfaces with semantics, pragmatics, linguistic typology, and language variation.

Tofu Gourmet Cuisine

Many times! Then it's time to expand your culinary horizons while, at the same time, reaping the nutritional benefits of tofu. Author Frances Boyte and her new book, Tofu Gourmet Cuisine, will take you for a savory journey.

Tofu Gourmet Cuisine

How many times have you heard someone say, Tofu is only for vegetarians? Many times! Then it's time to expand your culinary horizons while, at the same time, reaping the nutritional benefits of tofu. Author Frances Boyte and her new book, Tofu Gourmet Cuisine, will take you for a savory journey... With more than 30 years of experience as a clinical dietician, Frances Boyte knows that tofu is a super-nutritious food for everyone who is looking to reach his or her optimal health. Frances Boyte's approach closely links healthy eating to the pleasures of eating. One serving of tofu (100g) has the same calcium content as two glasses of milk and offers two to three times more iron than one serving of beef. It also contains 15g of high quality protein and is cholesterol-free. Plus, tofu is a rich source of vitamins and minerals. Your metabolism will reward you for including tofu in your diet, with a higher energy level and healthier appearance. Frances Boyte asked five respected chefs to create gourmet recipes mixing tofu with meat, fish and even foie gras for those with a flair for cooking and a health-conscious attitude. Those talented chefs are: Marie-Chantal Lepage who was named Canadian National Chef of the Year in 2000, making her the first woman to ever receive this honor; Eric Boutin, chef at the prestigious Laurie Raphael in Quebec City; Sebastien Leblond, chef at the well-renowned Le Maizerets in Quebec City; Benoit Paquet, chef and teacher at Ciat's Quebec cooking school and Jose Trottier, chef and teacher at Montreal's Calixa-Lavallee cooking school.

Now, in This Can't Be Tofu!, award-winning and bestselling author of Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone Deborah Madison shows how to make tofu taste great and be the star attraction in 75 stir-fries, sautés, and other dishes.
