My Heaven Is Open

I chose to name this book My Heaven is Open because while I was praying for the right title for this book, what came to my spirit was “Open Heaven”, ... When something is open, it means it's accessible, it's within one's reach.

My Heaven Is Open

This book is a prayer book for individual believers learning to develop their prayer lives. Likewise, believers who have experience praying will benefit from it. It is highly inspired by the Holy Spirit and can be used on a daily basis to address issues that might need prayer. Each chapter of this book has different topics with bible verses and prayer points under each topic.

It s My Decision

It is said that the story of our lives is written by God. May be, but I believe that it’s us who write it all and every decision we take marks the beginning of a new chapter in our life. Every decision – be it as trivial as buying a phone or as big as choosing a career – is somehow connected and creates the story of our lives. Good decisions make great memories and bad decisions make great stories. Like others, Kabir also has a story to tell. Hometown boy Kabir is in big trouble. He left his parents, his studies, his friends to follow his dreams but now he thinks it wasn’t even his dream. It was too late to turn things around, until he found that one thing which could fix everything. He decided to end all the troubles by taking his own life. A few months back, he was living a normal student life and had a clear path to follow but now he was all lost. A perfect son, a perfect student, a perfect friend and a perfect lover was now a perfect loser. What exactly had happened in his life, what were those decisions that made him take this decision? That’s what the story is about. As I said “Wrong Decisions make Good Stories”.

The Poetry of St Therese of Lisieux

The Poetry of St Therese of Lisieux

Despite their importance, the poems of St. Thérèse of Lisieux are among the least known of her writings, previously available only in highly edited selections. Here for the first time in English is the complete collection of Thérèse's poetry, faithfully translated from the French critical edition by Donald Kinney, O.C.D. Also included are a preface by Jean Guitton, a general introduction to Thérèse's spiritual and poetic development, 6 photos, and individual introductions to each of the poems, indicating its background and significance. The volume closes with the French text of the poems and a fully linked index to their major themes and images. Together with the ICS Publications editions of Thérèse of Lisieux's Story of a Soul, Last Conversations, Letters, Plays, and Prayers, this is an indispensible work for all those who love the life and spiritual message of "the greatest saint of modern times."

There Will Be Stars

“IN A LIFE FULL OF LIES, HE FINALLY SETTLED FOR THE TRUTH.” No one in Mattingly ever believed Bobby Barnes would live to see old age. Drink would either rot Bobby from the inside out or dull his senses just enough to send his truck off the mountain on one of his nightly rides. Although Bobby believes such an end possible—and even likely—it doesn’t stop him from taking his twin sons Matthew and Mark into the mountains one Saturday night. A sharp curve, blinding headlights, metal on metal, his sons’ screams. Bobby’s final thought as he sinks into blackness is a curious one—There will be stars. Yet it is not death that greets him beyond the veil. Instead, he returns to the day he has just lived and finds he is not alone in this strange new world. Six others are trapped with him. Bobby soon discovers that this supposed place of peace is actually a place of secrets and hidden dangers. Along with three others, he seeks to escape, even as the world around him begins to crumble. The escape will lead some to greater life, others to endless death . . . and Bobby Barnes to understand the deepest nature of love.

The Brave

Perfect for fans of Rain Reign, this middle-grade novel The Brave is about a boy with an OCD issue and his move to a reservation to live with his biological mother. Collin can't help himself—he has a unique condition that finds him counting every letter spoken to him. It's a quirk that makes him a prime target for bullies, and a continual frustration to the adults around him, including his father. When Collin asked to leave yet another school, his dad decides to send him to live in Minnesota with the mother he's never met. She is Ojibwe, and lives on a reservation. Collin arrives in Duluth with his loyal dog, Seven, and quickly finds his mom and his new home to be warm, welcoming, and accepting of his condition. Collin’s quirk is matched by that of his neighbor, Orenda, a girl who lives mostly in her treehouse and believes she is turning into a butterfly. With Orenda’s help, Collin works hard to overcome his challenges. His real test comes when he must step up for his new friend and trust his new family.

The Future of Hope

Over the last three decades a major cultural shift has taken place in the attitudes of Western societies toward the future. Modernitybs eclipse by postmodernity is characterized in large part by the loss of hope for a future substantially better than the present. Old optimism about human progress has given way to uncertainty and fear. In this book scholars from various disciplines -- theology, the social sciences, and the humanities -- explore the move from a bculture of optimismb to a bculture of ambiguity, b and they seek to infuse todaybs jaded language of hope with a new vitality. "The Future of Hope" offers a powerful critique of todaybs stifling cultural climate and shows why the vision of hope central to Christian faith must be a basic component of any flourishing society. The first section of the book sets the context with telling cultural criticism of modernity. The second section focuses on affinities between premodern Christian visions of hope and twentieth-century thought. The final section of the book examines the relationship between postmodern thought, Christian tradition, and biblical hope, addressing how Christians in a postmodern world can best articulate their faith. Written by truly profound thinkers, these chapters are diverse in their content, methodologies, and temperament, yet they are united by a deep engagement with both the Christian tradition and the larger cultural and intellectual climate in which we live and work. "The Future of Hope" can thus be read not just as an attempt at retrieval of hope for today but as itself one small act of hope in an age when people too seldom take time to think critically and hopefully. To Catch a Fish

Davey Simpson, a fisherman, is charged with the murder of a powerful Alabama politician's son. His childhood friend, Ben Johnson, is well-qualified to act as his attorney, but Ben would have to resign as the first black lieutenant governor of Alabama to take the case. Davey does not want Ben to make such a sacrifice. While in the Mobile County Jail awaiting trial, Davey has a unique method of surviving confinement. Since he can't endure living in the present, he lives in the past, recalling memories of his two childhood friends --his lost love, Pokey, and his best friend, Ben. Even though those memories are also a reminder that Ben and Pokey both moved away from Mobile, they allow Davey to escape the unbearable loneliness of incarceration. Years before, when Ben was shunned and mistreated because of his race, Davey stood up for him. Now, despite Davey's protests, Ben insists on representing Davey. Though they had been separated by time and space, loyalty prevails. However, it is Davey's plight that causes childhood friends to reunite and renew their relationships. Unexpected twists reveal the many complications involved in the case and in Davey's personal life as well. This book was awarded Second Place in the Sandhill Writer's Conference for Novels in 2009. One of the judges, Milam McGraw Propst, author of Adventures of Ociee Nash (also a movie), expressed her "high regard for this manuscript." She compared it to The Help saying, "It is writing from the same heart." Calling the work amazing, she said she "loves these three characters; most especially Pokey and her triumph" adding that "these beautifully drawn, rich memories of the South bring back a place and time we all need to remember."

The Run to Gitche Gumee

The Run to Gitche Gumee

It’s 1950, and Ben and Harry, two young men from Wisconsin, know their fun is about to come to an end. Ben will soon depart for the war in Korea while Harry will hit the books as a college freshman. They decide to end the summer on a high note with what will certainly be an adventurous canoe trip to Lake Superior, known to the Chippewa as Gitche Gumee. On the way to Gitche Gumee, they row through terrifying rapids, fend off a ferocious black bear, and catch some of the biggest trout they’ve ever seen in their lives. Encounters with a group of thieves, a few rambunctious girls from a local university, and intimidating businessmen also help them pass the time as they paddle down the Firesteel River. Fifty years later, Ben and Harry decide to recreate their trip to Gitche Gumee. Once again, they pack their bags, ready their canoe, and set out for what they’re sure will be another unforgettable adventure. This time, however, the two men experience a completely different trip. They fish, hunt, and explore as they did when they were younger, but soon realize that their friendship—and the river—is not as they remember it. Dark Heavens

DARK HEAVENS takes us back to Roger Levy's stunning vision of a world counting out its final years as it literally falls apart. London is awash with volcanic ash, the population fatalistically playing out their lives in VR. But ReGenesis, the radical movement who started Earth's death with a series of controlled nuclear explosions in the Marina's trench, have not finished with the planet yet. RECKLESS SLEEP was a supremely assured and visionary SF debut. DARK HEAVENS builds on that promise with flair and verve.
