These nutrients come from the food we eat so it goes without saying that we need healthy nutritious food. I have written this book with that in mind and hope it will get you thinking about what you eat.
Nutrition is the most important part of any diet. Our bodies need nutrients (Vitamins and Minerals) to function, to maintain itself and to be healthy. These nutrients come from the food we eat so it goes without saying that we need healthy nutritious food. I have written this book with that in mind and hope it will get you thinking about what you eat. With The Nutrition Diet you don't have to count calories, worry about low fat, low carb, high carb, etc, things that can all make dieting a pain. It is a diet with straightforward healthy food. The book covers nutrition, digestion, diet etc which I hope is in a simple to understand way . Also included are tips on how to make your diet more varied and nutritious. Then there are lots of easy healthy recipes to help you get the nutrition you need. At the end are useful annexes including how nutrition is important for three of the most common problems in today's modern world -aches and pains, stress and old age. I have tried to keep things simple without too much technical detail. There are plenty of more technical books but this book is meant to stress the importance of nutrition in a way that anyone can understand and realise how important nutrition really is.

Diet and Nutrition in Dementia and Cognitive Decline offers researchers and clinicians a single authoritative source which outlines the complex interrelationships between cognitive decline, dementia and the way diet can be modified to improve outcomes. In a cross-disciplinary field like dementia research and practice, clinicians and researchers need a comprehensive resource which will quickly help them identify a range of nutritional components and how they affect cognitive decline and the development of dementia. While the focus is on clinical applications, the book also features landmark and innovative preclinical studies that have served as the foundation of rigorous trials. Chapters explore the evidence of how nutritional components, either in the diet or supplements, can either impede the development to, or progression from, the onset of dementia. Authors investigate how conditions and processes overlap between defined conditions and present studies which show that dietary components may be equally effective in a number of conditions characterized by declining cognition or dementia. This book represents essential reading for researchers and practicing clinicians in nutrition, dietetics, geriatrics, nursing, neurology, and psychology, as well as researchers, such as neuroscientists, molecular and cellular biochemists, interested in dementia. This book disseminates current information pertaining to the modulatory effects of foods and other food substances on behavior and neurological pathways and, importantly, vice versa. This ranges from the neuroendocrine control of eating to the effects of life-threatening disease on eating behavior. The importance of this contribution to the scientific literature lies in the fact that food and eating are an essential component of cultural heritage but the effects of perturbations in the food/cognitive axis can be profound. The complex interrelationship between neuropsychological processing, diet, and behavioral outcome is explored within the context of the most contemporary psychobiological research in the area. This comprehensive psychobiology- and pathology-themed text examines the broad spectrum of diet, behavioral, and neuropsychological interactions from normative function to occurrences of severe and enduring psychopathological processes.

This text is an especially timely new text as the number of studies focusing on the impact of the Mediterranean diet on disease prevention increases every year. The fundamental question addressed in this text is how food components and behavior of the Mediterranean diet reduce the risk of chronic diseases. In-depth chapters provide an overview of preclinical and clinical studies on Mediterranean dietary patterns, food components and lifestyle and their impact on health and disease. Large-scale “omic” approaches are highlighted to educate the reader about the molecular mechanisms through which specific components of the Mediterranean diet improves health and the opportunities and challenges for translating into practice the food recommendations of the Mediterranean pyramid. The volume concludes with information about the nutritional adequacy of Mediterranean foods and provides selected recipes. Mediterranean Diet: Impact on Health and Disease will be of great interest to students, clinicians, and scientists engaged in promoting health through nutrition and physical activity.
