The creative work of Andrei N. Kolmogorov is exceptionally wide-ranging. In his studies on trigonometric and orthogonal series, the theory of measure and integral, mathematical logic, approximation theory, geometry, topology, functional analysis, classical mechanics, ergodic theory, superposition of functions, and in formation theory, he solved many conceptual and fundamental problems and posed new questions which gave rise to a great deal of further research. Kolmogorov is one of the founders of the Soviet school of probability theory, mathematical statistics, and the theory of turbulence. In these areas he obtained a number of central results, with many applications to mechanics, geophysics, linguistics and biology, among other subjects. This edition includes Kolmogorov's most important papers on mathematics and the natural sciences. It does not include his philosophical and pedagogical studies, his articles written for the "Bolshaya Sovetskaya Entsiklopediya", his papers on prosody and applications of mathematics or his publications on general questions. The material of this edition was selected and compiled by Kolmogorov himself. The first volume consists of papers on mathematics and also on turbulence and classical mechanics. The second volume is devoted to probability theory and mathematical statistics. The focus of the third volume is on information theory and the theory of algorithms.

Tim Davenport and David Walters have extracted the essential core of Debs’s life work, illustrating his intellectual journey from conservative editor of the magazine of a racially segregated railway brotherhood to his role as the public face and outstanding voice of social revolution in early twentieth-century America. Well over 1,000 Debs documents will be republished as part of this monumental project, the vast majority seeing print again for the first time since the date of their original publication. Eugene V. Debs (1855–1926) was a trade unionist, magazine editor, and public orator widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of American socialism.

First presented as Lulu e books, Stephen Mead has collected the best of his award winning poetry/art hybrids here for the first time in printed form. From the evocative expressionism of We Are More Than Our Wounds, to the lush black and white film iconography of Drag, these spiritual journeys of text and paint breathe from their pages to remain with the viewer long after the book is closed. Over one hundred color images, makes for a lovely coffee table book. Author: Phillip Griffiths
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
Over the last four decades, Phillip Griffiths has been a central figure in mathematics. During this time, he made crucial contributions in several fields, including complex analysis, algebraic geometry, and differential systems. His books and papers are distinguished by a remarkably lucid style that invites the reader to understand not only the subject at hand, but also the connections among seemingly unrelated areas of mathematics. Even today, many of Griffiths' papers are used as a standard source on a subject.Another important feature of Griffiths' writings is that they often bring together classical and modern mathematics. The four parts of Selected Works - Analytic Geometry, Algebraic Geometry, Variations of Hodge Structures, and Differential Systems - are organized according to the subject matter and are supplemented by Griffiths' brief, but extremely illuminating, personal reflections on the mathematical content and the times in which they were produced. Griffiths' Selected Works provide the reader with a panoramic view of important and exciting mathematics during the second half of the 20th century.
