NOT YOUR AVERAGE WONDERLAND.NOT YOUR AVERAGE ALICE.It began with a tarot reading gone awry and an innocent---okay, not so innocent---Halloween party. The Knight of Cups, the Knight of Swords, the Knight of Wands, the Knight of Pentacles... Allie was warned they would come for her. She didn't listen. And then there was The Moon. That goddess-cursed Moon card destroyed her life---although the visions of the goddess didn't help---and she's still trying to pick up the pieces. Now she has a cat that isn't a cat but IS kind of an a-hole, and four men that she can't control herself around. Seriously... Can. Not. Allie only went along with the madness the reading foretold to get answers about her past. She thought she was ready to know. She was wrong. Darkness has fallen in Wonderland. There are whispers of a mysterious queen, wielding unmatched power, and of a prophesied witch with the power to set things right. Allie's knights want to help her find her lost magic, but first, they all have to survive the assassins the queen has sent for her. Only one thing is clear... her life is forever changed. There is no going back. Thrust into a world of monsters, magic, and mayhem, Allie has to find her way to this Demon Wonderland with the help of her loyal, arrogant, annoying, and PAINFULLY sexy knights. They've been more of a distraction than anything thus far, but she's hoping that changes, because the Cheshire says once we get to their home realm, the picnic of being hunted by supernatural assassins is over. "This is not kiddie hour, Miss Alice. It's not a fairytale. There are no second chances and no do-overs. You're playing for keeps, and every decision is final. Especially your last." To set their world right, Allie will have to face more than the queen's assassins. She'll have to face the Queen of Death and Broken Hearts. She'll have to face the Jabberwock. And somehow... She'll have to win.Introduction to an RH PNR and urban fantasy series.

Finding True Magic is the primary training text for the Transpersonal Hypnotherapy/NLP Certification Program offered by the Institute for Therapeutic Learning. Finding True Magic and the Transpersonal Hypnotherapy/NLP trainings are appropriate for laypeople seeking personal growth, as well as for therapists and other professionals intent on advancing their therapeutic skills. In fact, about 50 per cent of ITL students take the training primarily for personal development. This book explores the possibilities for recognizing and freeing ourselves from a destructive process of perceiving, thinking, and acting that can be viewed as a pernicious worldwide epidemic. Unlike other diseases, which we strive to isolate and cure, this insidious fever has a characteristic that makes us blind to its presence: we come to identify its symptoms as our very own true self. We lovingly speak of this disease as our ego, our sense of limited separate selfhood. Jack Elias calls it "egoic-minding," because it is a process, not a thing. Egoic-minding is a fragmented, biased way of perceiving and thinking. It can be viewed as a sort of destructive hypnotic trance that causes us to experience each other as strangers, as different, as threats. The delirium of this trance causes us to do violence to each other and to our world, without ever recognizing that it (our egoic thought process) is the true enemy. By synthesizing insights and techniques of Eastern and Western philosophy and psychology, Finding True Magic explores various ways to disperse the feverish trance of egoic-minding, heal the trauma it causes, and wake us up to the sacred magic of our true Self. This true inner Self is the wellspring of our capacity for cooperation, community-building, and the celebration of life. Everyone has the right to the make use of the essential insights and dynamics of healing communication, without resorting to the long-term expense of a professional intermediary. The model of such therapeutic relationships has changed in recent years, due to the financial burdens it places on our medical system. Financial considerations aside, however, therapy and therapists should change simply because there is a more effective approach to healing and personal growth. That approach, which is the subject of this book, relies on the inherent goodness of our shared Being, a resource that is surprisingly easy to contact in the space between egoic thoughts. Most of us do not experience that space in the normal course of our thinking, however. We may be surprised to hear such a thing, given our experience of the seemingly impenetrable stream of our thoughts. But this space is quite real. It is the space of Silence, Healing Power, and Insight. We have all experienced this silence on occasion, perhaps through prayer, or in a tender moment of love or awe. Most of us have not been taught, and have remained unaware that this silent Presence is always so close and available. Holistic mind/body therapeutic techniques, such as those presented here, derive transformative power when they help us to tap into this willing Presence, also called Grace.
Power, Magic, and Colonial Conquest in Bali Margaret J. Wiener ... hair covered

In 1908, the ruler of the Balinese realm of Klungkung and more than 100 members of his family and court were massacred when they marched deliberately into the fire of the Dutch colonial army. The question of what their action meant and its continued significance in contemporary Klungkung forms the basis of Margaret Wiener's complex anthropolological history. Wiener challenges colonial and academic claims that Klungkung had no "real" power and argues that such claims enabled colonial domination. By focusing on Balinese discourses she makes clear the choices open to Balinese, both at the time of the Dutch conquest and in its narration. At the same time, she shows how these discourses, which revolve around magical weapons acquired from invisible agents such as gods, spirits, and ancestors, offer an alternative understanding of Klungkung's power. Moving between Balinese and Dutch narratives and between past and present, Wiener critiques colonial accounts by recounting Balinese memories and interpretations. Her attention to history and local situations illuminates the ways in which colonialism and orientalist scholarship have obscured the power of indigenous rulers and shows how Klungkung, once Bali's paramount realm, was relegated to a peripheral corner of the Indonesian nation-state. Both as a fascinating story and as a rich example of interdisciplinary scholarship, this book will interest students of colonialism, anthropology, history, religion, and Southeast Asia.

A Princess born of two kingdoms. Twin necromancers born with split magic. A vengeful assassin waiting in the shadows. As a young princess born from the realms of Death and Dream, some question Willow's right to rule. It will one day be her duty to rule the Kingdom of Death and command her Reaper knights to guide all souls of the dead down to her cold caverns of Grim for their afterlife. But for now, she must strengthen her weak magic and sharpen her skills with the scythe if she hopes to be respected for more than her bloodline. Unexpectedly, one of her biggest supporters is a new Reaper-in-training boy with different colored eyes. Xavier and his twin brother Alex didn’t know they would be dining with the royal family of Grim on their first day of moving within the palace grounds. And Xavier wasn’t prepared to meet an enchanting young Death Princess, let alone one with six elements of magic. He and his brother would be lucky to have even one whole element, but the twins’ abilities to raise the dead had been split at birth. Xavier can only use his magic on deceased souls. Alex can only resurrect decaying corpses. Halved magic has never been seen in the five realms, and the twins are considered crippled in the magic community when separated. Together, though, Willow and the twins may be capable of anything. But they aren’t prepared for an assassin trapped in the Dream realm for 500 years who has sworn vengeance on the royal families of Death and Dream. And with an ancient, poisonous magic, he won’t leave any souls alive. Princess Of Grim is an enchanting prequel to Writer's Digest 1st place winner in Fantasy, Willow of Ashes.

The key to all Wiccan practice is ultimately solitary because developing real growth and awareness begins inside each individual. The Solitary Wiccan's Bible is for any reader wanting to go deeper into his or her understanding and experience of Wicca--alone. There are many reasons people seek a solitary path: fear of charlatans, concern about co-workers finding out or being misunderstood by others, or lack of family or social support for Wiccan practice. The Solitary Wiccan's Bible uses the metaphor of a solitary pilgrim walking a path and discovering natural and spiritual truths along the way. This pilgrimage is based on the ancient symbology of the Pentagram enclosed in the triple circle. The Solitary Wiccan's Bible leads the pilgrim to cross the circles, moving from the Wilderness through the Home and Astral realms, to achieve the central Spiritual realm. Always down-to-earth and easy to understand, The Solitary Wiccan's Bible clearly lays out the Wiccan paths so any reader can follow. Chapters include:* The Pilgrimage of Wicca* The Pilgrim Enters New Realms* The Pilgrimage of the Pentagram* The Pilgrim's Wiccan Magical Path* The Practical Pilgrim's Spellwork* The Pilgrim's Talismans The Solitary Wiccan's Bible provides background and practice in clear, accessible, and often humorous prose, making the book immediately useful to first-time seekers and long-time practitioners alike.

The Western magical traditions are currently undergoing an international resurgence. In Stealing Fire from Heaven, Nevill Drury offers an overview of the modern occult revival and seeks to explain this growing interest in ancient magical belief systems. Gnosticism and the Hermetica, the medieval Kabbalah, Tarot and Alchemy, and more recently, Rosicrucianism and Freemasonry, collectively laid the basis for the modern magical revival, which first began to gather momentum in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. Western magic has since become increasingly eclectic, drawing on such diverse sources as classical Greco-Roman mythology, Celtic cosmology, Kundalini yoga and Tantra, shamanism, chaos theory, and the various spiritual traditions associated in many different cultures with the Universal Goddess. Drury traces the rise of various forms of magical belief and practice, from the influential Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn to the emergence of Wicca and Goddess worship as expressions of contemporary feminine spirituality. He also explores Chaos Magick and the occult practices of the so-called Left-Hand Path, as well as twenty-first-century magical forays into cyberspace. He believes that the rise of modern Western magic stems essentially from the quest for personal spiritual transformation and direct experience of the sacred--a quest which the trance occultist and visionary artist Austin Osman Spare once referred to as "stealing fire from heaven." Considered in this light, Drury argues, modern Western magic can be regarded as a form of alternative spirituality in which the practitioners seek direct engagement with the mythic realm.
