This is a loose conglomeration of thoughts and reflections on the internal happenings of the lighter side of the U.S. corrections system. Here you will find absolutely none of the turgid, scabby horror stories that span the prison genre. This has a flavor of a "stream of consciousness" and a personal journal. Much as I'd like to scream to the skies how full of merit and inspiration "The Light Side of Corrections" is, I must be honest; you'll figure it out anyways. I am an amateur. This is my first published work anywhere near "book" level. I will admit that some the crimes represented by the inmates are certainly distasteful, hurtful, fraudulent and manipulative. Should those fairly convicted provide substantial financial restitution to victims? Sure. Substance abuse monitoring? Why not. Counseling or community service? Ok. But physical limitation and confinement for those that are not a physical threat? I don't get it.

The purpose of this book is to provide the most comprehensive, easy-to-use, and informative guide on light microscopy. Light and Video Microscopy will prepare the reader for the accurate interpretation of an image and understanding of the living cell. With the presentation of geometrical optics, it will assist the reader in understanding image formation and light movement within the microscope. It also provides an explanation of the basic modes of light microscopy and the components of modern electronic imaging systems and guides the reader in determining the physicochemical information of living and developing cells, which influence interpretation. Brings together mathematics, physics, and biology to provide a broad and deep understanding of the light microscope Clearly develops all ideas from historical and logical foundations Laboratory exercises included to assist the reader with practical applications Microscope discussions include: bright field microscope, dark field microscope, oblique illumination, phase-contrast microscope, photomicrography, fluorescence microscope, polarization microscope, interference microscope, differential interference microscope, and modulation contrast microscope

One of the first contemporary works to bring together research focused on community corrections officers, Professional Lives of Community Corrections Officers: The Invisible Side of Reentry, by Faith E. Lutze, helps readers understand the importance of community corrections officers to the success of the criminal justice system. The author brings the important work of these officers out from the shadows of the prison and into the light of informed policymaking, demonstrating how their work connects to the broader political, economic, and social context. Arguing that they are “street-level boundary spanners” who are in the best position to lead effective reentry initiatives built on interagency collaboration, the author shows how community corrections officers can effectively lead a fluid response to reentry that is inclusive of control, support, and treatment. This supplement is ideal for community corrections or probation and parole courses to supplement core textbooks.

This edited collection brings together the work of researchers and educators from Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Costa Rica, Portugal, and Mexico on education, pedagogy, and research from a queer perspective. It offers a space for the dissemination and development of new lines of analysis and intervention in the field of Queer Pedagogies in the region, relevant to the present and future of the field both in our countries and beyond. Chapters provide perspectives aware of the regional context but relevant from a theoretical and practical perspective beyond Ibero-America. The volume covers elementary, middle, and higher education, formal and informal, and includes theoretical and applied contributions on a variety of topics including public policies on education, queer youth, sex education, and conservative attacks against "gender ideology" in the region. Moira Pérez is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Assistant Researcher at the National Council for Scientific Research (CONICET). At the convergence of Practical Philosophy and Queer Theory, her research focuses on the articulation between violence and identity, with particular interest in epistemic and institutional violence. Gracia Trujillo-Barbadillo is Professor of Sociology in the Faculty of Education at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Spain, and feminist and queer/cuir activist.
